Desiree Fairooz and Medea Benjamin: Two of the Greatest American Hero’s of Our Time

Thank you Desiree Fairoo, Medea Benjamin and Code Pink for your unflinching pursuit of justice and you guardianship of the highest American principles.

It is utterly surreal that any of the Bush administration, especially Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush are walking around free men.  This is our national embarrassment.

All of them are directly responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis as well as the deaths of over 4000 American soldiers, victims of Iraqi terrorists fathers and sons protecting their homes and families.

The sickening, uncomfortable smile on Rummy’s face as he is confronted by these great Americans betrays the underlying truth that Rumsfeld remains a free man only by virtue of our collective national shock and the broken and still paralyzed culture of justice and law in the homeland.

Code Pink is become a great American institution producing brave heros of the peace movement on the order of  the Tim DeChristopher.

Wow, I posted this at Dkos and it has sparked quite the lively conversation.

Does the discussion have anything to do with your substitution of the possessive for the plural?

It’s good to see Rummy having to face a consequence, even if it’s just a little public humiliation.

Yes, if discomfort is our only resort, we’ll settle for that for now. I hold out hope that we may see some results from a torture investigation, but that still doesn’t get to the heart of the more basic war crime issue – that we invaded Iraq based on lies. We waged war against people who had not attacked us and who posed no threat to us.

Another thug who should be in prison also walks free. Karl Rove had to do an interview today, under oath, concerning his involvement in the attorney scandal. They filmed him arriving and smiling.

Code Pink is a joke. And what’s even more ridiculous is to see people like Cliff take them seriously.

They are on the shits though, you have to give them that. Takes some courage as well. Give them that as too. They’re correct and really have been all along. The list of why I value them just keeps on a growin’.

    Hey Farmer,

Do you think “Code Pink is a joke” because you:

    a. Disagree with their politics,

    b. Disagree with the practice of public protest.

    c. Disagree with the practice of civil disobedience.

    d. Abhor the practice of Constitutionally protected speech.

    e. Find them funny

    f. You love Rumsfeld.

    g. Are jealous because you lack the spine to do what they do.

    i. Believe chartreuse is a better color.

    j. Think women should stay home and mind the kids.

I used to wonder if Code Pink did more harm than good, making progressive ideas look ridiculous. More recently, especially since the Obama administration decided to participate in the cover-up of Bush crimes, I think Code Pink is needed.
