Rocky Anderson on Dylan Ratigan Show

Dylan Ratigan Show (MSNBC) January 17, 2012

The media gauntlet against 3rd party candidates is nearly impenetrable. Of the many independent and 3rd party candidates who run for President every year, I remember only Ross Perot, Ralph Nader and maybe whats-his-name-Forbes getting ANY media coverage.

As the current two-party political system begins to deteriorate and things like Occupy Wall Street go from full media blackout to 24/7 coverage, it should surprise no one that Rocky’s bid for US President IS getting significant media attention.

So you can donate to Rocky’s campaign, but neither you NOR the Koch Brothers may contribute more than$100.

If not for MSNBC and Current TV, Rocky might be wasting his time.

I don’t think Steve Forbes was ever a third-party candidate.

Even touting Rocky, they miss naming Ron Paul–”You all know Mitt, Newt, and Rick. Now meet Rocky…” No respect, I tell ya… ;-)

He has several great ideas. Money is a very corrupting influence in Washington. Citizens United needs to be overturned. The military/industrial complex has far too much control in the country. I appreciate that he came to the conclusion that he came to that we can’t keep shifting the Republican and Democrat pieces around if we want our country to survive.

There would be quite a yin vs yang, but it would be very interesting to see a Rocky and Ron Paul (or Ron and Rocky) administration. I think we’d re-learn the art of compromise, and I think we’d get a lot of things done.

Frank, Today, I got another email from a Justice Party volunteer wanting confirmation that Rocky is not preaching any religious BULLSHIT.

You need to hear this and shut down the assholes who would subject our polity to religion.

PLEASE Frank, help us keep religion out of politics as the Founders DEMANDED ( 1st line of 1st BOR amendment)

Talk about pissing up a rope…you have as much chance of that as becoming Rocky’s presstitute again…

Speaking of pissing up a rope…I think you’ve just nailed trickle-down economics.

    Glee (Glenn Hoefer).

Knowing you is the reason I believe our species is destined for self-destruction. As if we were a failed experiment and you, the causal specimen.

    Cliff,
You might want to reread the BOR. It does not demand anything other than not establishing any religion and also not limiting any free expression thereof. There are also 2 explicit references to God in the Declaration of Independence. So there is nothing of the sort of keeping religion out of politics at all.

Also, when Thomas Jefferson wrote the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom he never stated anything of the sort that there shall be no religion in politics. What he said was that no man shall be compelled to support or attend any religion.

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever.

    John Adams
letter to his wife, Abigail, on July 3, 1776.

I have not heard Ron Paul say anything about God. Is he the only other candidate besides Rocky who would follow the “no religious test” precept that used to be a part of our elections? Every other candidate is carrying God around on their shoulder and it’s not attractive.

The fact that Rocky will only allow me to donate $20 four more times is a big relief to me.
