Pretty Darned Funny!

Obama and Romney roast each other at something called the “Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner”

Of course, Obama won. :)

On a more serious note: I hope Obama’s joke that Ohio, Virginia, and Florida are going to decide the election, as he looked at Romney, means that he is on to the fact that Romney’s team is working hard to steal this election. Go here to find out how.

    The Bain Capital Way

“Let’s not kid ourselves about how cheap offshore labor really is. We not only pay substantially less per hour, we also avoid the costs we would incur if these workers immigrated here. We don’t pay for their medical expenses when they show up at the emergency rooms without insurance. We don’t pay for their pension costs if they don’t save for their retirement. We don’t pay for their children’s education. Nor do we pay for their out-of-wedlock children, their unemployment benefits, work-mans compensation, and their slip and fall torts, their wear and tear on our public infrastructure, and the costs of their drunk driving, drug use and other crimes. We outsource pollution, the adverse effects it has on our health and its clean-up costs. Neither the employees nor their employers are here to vote and to seek political handouts.”

“Every senator in this chamber is partly responsible for sending 50,000 young Americans to an early grave. This chamber reeks of blood. Every Senator here is partly responsible for that human wreckage at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval and all across our land—young men without legs, or arms, or genitals, or faces or hopes. There are not very many of these blasted and broken boys who think this war is a glorious adventure. Do not talk to them about bugging out, or national honor or courage. It does not take any courage at all for a congressman, or a senator, or a president to wrap himself in the flag and say we are staying in Vietnam, because it is not our blood that is being shed. But we are responsible for those young men and their lives and their hopes. And if we do not end this damnable war those young men will some day curse us for our pitiful willingness to let the Executive carry the burden that the Constitution places on us. So before we vote, let us ponder the admonition of Edmund Burke, the great parliamentarian of an earlier day: “A contentious man would be cautious how he dealt in blood.”

  44. #45 by Richard Warnick on October 21, 2012 - 11:00 am

It was unfairly taken out of context. When he said it was “not optimal,” President Obama was referring to governmental communications about Libya, which may have cost the lives of four people.

Jon Stewart said: “Because I would say, even you would admit, it was not the optimal response, at least to the American people, as far as all of us being on the same page.”

And then Obama replied: “Here’s what I’ll say. If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal. We’re going to fix it. All of it.”

Compare the the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. President Bush did not initiate an investigation, in fact he tried to obstruct subsequent investigations. This time, President Obama started an investigation right away. The results are being shared with the public, subject to the requirements to keep some information classified. It’s actually quite a contrast to the general lack of transparency in the Obama administration.

Another contrast – after the 2001 terrorist attacks, Democrats patriotically rallied around President Bush. Even though Bush’s negligence contributed to the success of al-Qaeda, his popularity briefly shot up from 50% to 90%. This time, Republicans are desperately trying to jump on every little thing they think they can use for a partisan attack on the President. Placing party above country at all times is the hallmark of today’s GOP.

  45. #46 by System of a Down on October 21, 2012 - 11:17 am

Comedy Central dares to tell the truth when others are afraid to, not unlike the court jesters of old.

I think it’s unfair to ask people to comment on an out-of-context quote. Pat Smith was set up. Pretty despicable for political operators to prey on a grieving mother, don’t you think?

This was the cheapest of cheap partisan attacks. What a contrast between the two candidates in the second debate, when President Obama gave a heartfelt, straight-up description of the responsibility he shoulders as Commander-in-Chief — and Romney followed him by lying and trying to play politics on Libya.

  48. #49 by System of a Down on October 21, 2012 - 11:35 am

Pathetic. The entire display. The actual decisions and events place the responsibility of those deaths directly on the president.

He should be set up and ridiculed if not shunned for the incompetence and stupidity in not making provisions, for not listening to his staff. Arming known TERRORISTS! It is Pathetic.

    So says this Jester.

  49. #50 by Richard Warnick on October 21, 2012 - 11:38 am

You may not have noticed, but President Obama has taken responsibility. He met the plane that brought home the caskets. He said all the things we expect a President to say when things go wrong.

QUESTION: We were sitting around, talking about Libya, and we were reading and became aware of reports that the State Department refused extra security for our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, prior to the attacks that killed four Americans.

Who was it that denied enhanced security and why?

OBAMA: Well, let me first of all talk about our diplomats, because they serve all around the world and do an incredible job in a very dangerous situation. And these aren’t just representatives of the United States, they are my representatives. I send them there, oftentimes into harm’s way. I know these folks and I know their families. So nobody is more concerned about their safety and security than I am.

So as soon as we found out that the Benghazi consulate was being overrun, I was on the phone with my national security team and I gave them three instructions.

Number one, beef up our security and procedures, not just in Libya, but at every embassy and consulate in the region.

Number two, investigate exactly what happened, regardless of where the facts lead us, to make sure folks are held accountable and it doesn’t happen again.

And number three, we are going to find out who did this and we’re going to hunt them down, because one of the things that I’ve said throughout my presidency is when folks mess with Americans, we go after them.

OBAMA: Now Governor Romney had a very different response. While we were still dealing with our diplomats being threatened, Governor Romney put out a press release, trying to make political points, and that’s not how a commander in chief operates. You don’t turn national security into a political issue. Certainly not right when it’s happening. And people — not everybody agrees with some of the decisions I’ve made. But when it comes to our national security, I mean what I say. I said I’d end the war in Libya — in — in Iraq, and I did.

I said that we’d go after al-Qaeda and bin Laden, we have. I said we’d transition out of Afghanistan, and start making sure that Afghans are responsible for their own security, that’s what I’m doing. And when it comes to this issue, when I say that we are going to find out exactly what happened, everybody will be held accountable. And I am ultimately responsible for what’s taking place there because these are my folks, and I’m the one who has to greet those coffins when they come home. You know that I mean what I say.

OBAMA: Secretary Clinton has done an extraordinary job. But she works for me. I’m the president and I’m always responsible, and that’s why nobody’s more interested in finding out exactly what happened than I do.

The day after the attack, governor, I stood in the Rose Garden and I told the American people in the world that we are going to find out exactly what happened. That this was an act of terror and I also said that we’re going to hunt down those who committed this crime.

And then a few days later, I was there greeting the caskets coming into Andrews Air Force Base and grieving with the families.

And the suggestion that anybody in my team, whether the Secretary of State, our U.N. Ambassador, anybody on my team would play politics or mislead when we’ve lost four of our own, governor, is offensive. That’s not what we do. That’s not what I do as president, that’s not what I do as Commander in Chief.

As my Uncle who lived under fascism, soshullism, and fascism in Poland and Germany in his life said.

“When it comes down to it, these 3 are all the same in how they impact your life”

You own nothing at the State’s behest he said, not even your treasure, as they must conform to State brainwashing. you can do nothing about it.

    He’s buried in Queens

I can always tell when the smoke is rising from your skulls when you reference some ghost that is responsible for your crushed arguments. What a powerful spirit you conjure! haha

Truth is Richard, you are a product of learning without actually knowing, especially when it comes to ideology, and that is showing.

There is just a bit of hairsplitting between fascism, communism, and socialism and only those who have never lived it make the distinctions. Fascism and communism are much more murder prone, as we are witnessing currently in obama policy.

All of this intrigue involving Al Qaeda, the C.I.A. and any number of other shadowy groups, has been going on, and will continue despite regime changes here in the U. S..

So, it’s not ‘Obama’s’ lying that is the real issue, it is that those we’re fooled into believing will somehow provide leadership, be they dem or rep, are the very ones we need to lead ourselves away from. Which is why I so often refer to them as mere sock-puppets of the ‘shadowy’ Masters Of The Universe.

    I must show der Fuhrer!

This year, at least 21 wildfires in Utah, nearly a dozen in Idaho and several more in Arizona, Nevada, Washington and New Mexico were set by the errant bullets of target shooters flying into the brush.

Paid for by the Koch Brothers syndicate to get rid of that horrible commie socialist.

I wonder if you would mind answering a few questions for a totally unbiased and independent survey of probable voters?

    1. In the event of an Obama victory in November, the state of the country will be:
    a. noticeably worse
    b. somewhat worse
    c. a communist hell hole
    d. just the same dreary sadness day after day until death.

    2. In the event of a Romney Victory!!!!!, the country will become:
    a. much, much better as soon as we know that HE will be our President! He won’t even have to do ANYTHING! He’s that great!
    b. paradise on Earth.
    c. a fairer, more verdant and pleasant land.
    d. all this and more! Much, much More!

Thank you for your free and unbiased and totally bipartisan opinion.

My work is done here. consider it practice for when you no longer hold power, which is pretty much always.

Clearly cav, with a president firing off 350 NAZI TERROR WEAPONS without complaint, it is quite something to see anyone supporting the president twist themselves into knots justifying their stances.

LIMBO LOWER NOW!!! HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?

    Have a nice trip.

  99. #100 by the Ghost of George Carlin on October 21, 2012 - 6:15 pm

…..Is still evil, and see obama is the proven drone murderer, and romney isn’t yet. Under basic jurisprudence which even somnambulistic stinkbugs can figure out, you cannot in pre emption claim one person is worse than another when the one person is not yet a murderer, and the one you like is.

By any standard of reason and logic, your support for the proven murderer makes no sense.

You actually support the FACTUALLY greater evil.

Congrats, you have reatinalized your chioce so you can justify supporting a standing murderer. That was some trick, I applaud you!

I mean REALLY, Get lost dude! You’re cluttering up the blog.

  103. #104 by cav on October 21, 2012 - 6:48 pm

I’ve pretty much written what I think the Romney admin would be like, and yes, it is speculative, fear driven at best.

And, you are correct that Obama has been shown to be the very kind of two-faced puppet that, in a just world would himself be in the docket.

I’ve sought to protect Mitt’s karmic future by sticking with the devil we know. And for a whole lot of reasons beside, I’ll be sticking with Obama – since he in a number of instances sort of covered our backs against the wingnut onslaught.

I don’t wish to wallow in my lack of enthusiasm, nor can I find it in myself to run with Willard’s ‘virginity’ in the death machinery when it would mean the entire package of neocon madmen will just come flooding back into the White House – and they without any doubt DO have enough blood on their hands to give anyone with a shred of memory and conscience reason to pause.

Am I to presume you’ll be voting to corrupt still another clean, crisp, son of god? You who bad mouths the cult of personality. You need to search that culprit’s baggage.

  104. #105 by the Ghost of George Carlin on October 21, 2012 - 10:03 pm

What… they take away your censorship privileges Larry?

…and cav really? The neo cons never left the White House! Without elaborating the nazi terror weapon thing, and new wars and rumbles of wars all day, 2/3rds of our dead in Afghanistan last 4 years…

obama has been a consummate neo-con. The Stealth model.

  105. #106 by the Ghost of George Carlin on October 21, 2012 - 10:17 pm

You see Larry consider this, the violence and horror of our policy with all forms of warfare over the past 4 years has been unrelenting, There has been no “paring back” there are surges and 850 billion dollar defense budgets. Are we agreed?

So since the murderous policies of the former regime went protested, I am slightly disappointed that there is no protest against obama by people like yourself, you like getting what he may be giving you, but the violence has no protest.

I consider the war crimes committed by this president, and his disregard for constitutional law to be far more important than whether I see a doctor ultimately, nor would I trade any of our bill of rights for the benefit of one either.

A vote for romney will ensure that a progressive like you will finally get up off of their ass and again begin to protest the policies of our nation which amount to a 24/7 MURDERFEST!

    M’kay?

  106. #107 by the Ghost of George Carlin on October 21, 2012 - 10:36 pm

See Larry, this is how they are all the same.

The sad reality is Larry, is that you are all the same too.

  107. #108 by cav on October 22, 2012 - 8:22 am

I’m wondering if it has to be an actual vote cast FOR Romney. That would without fail be twisted by the Rovian bastards into a spectrum wide mandate. In any event, in the race between O and R, it’s a matter of scale we’re talking about. In the corporosphere, O’s foot dragging, where R…’balls to the wall.’

It seems now may be the time to go with a third party vote (Jill Stein), which would accomplish both what you are seeking as well as nudging the Green Party a step closer to acceptability.

    Oh, and good morning!

  108. #109 by the Ghost of George Carlin on October 22, 2012 - 8:30 am

Jill spent 8 hours handcuffed to a chair the last debate. Not a word from either foul candidate.

Earth to America! How much more do you have to see, how much more can you turn away and spin without becoming drilled into the ground?

Like I said to Larry, vote for romney, just so all the totally hypocritical lovers of “peace” will once again protest murder, like they did under bush. At the very least the world can appreciate our situation as a public, have empathy instead of thinking everyone in America, especially now on he left are just a life support system for a bunch of monsters, if they are not perceived to be monsters themselves.

Wake up hypocrites. Now, before it is too late.
