NRA Peddles Guns For Kids – What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

NRA kids guns

Many adults don’t understand that guns are not toys. They are deadly weapons. Until this week, I was blissfully unaware that the Gun Lobby is peddling .22 caliber rifles for kids as young as 4 and 5. These weapons were prominently featured at the NRA annual convention just after another accidental shooting tragedy.

On Tuesday, a five-year-old Kentucky boy accidentally shot and killed his two-year-old sister with a gun he’d been given as a birthday present. The weapon, a small rifle, was manufactured specifically for children’s use.

In one week alone last month, four people were shot by toddlers.

Greg Palast named his book perfectly: “Armed Madhouse”.

You’d have to be a psycho to buy a five-year-old a damn BB gun. What is wrong with these people?

    brewsker, (man sans name):

I’m guessing you’re referring to Al Franken’s book.

It’s getting harder to defend your position.

    I’m thinking that’s good.

Be comfortable with your moniker, dude.

I don’t pay any attention to Glenn Beck. I didn’t know that article came from The Blaze. It was on Yahoo News as you can see. Nevertheless, MSNBC wasn’t just wrong, they went out of their way to be dishonest and manipulative. They just got caught here which is the only reason they admitted the lie.

I thought brewski pays no attention to Glenn Beck, but here he cites The Blaze. Look, MSNBC does not claim to be perfect, and they acknowledge their mistakes (in this case, on the same day). However, they did not actually distort VP Biden’s position on gun violence.

Beck and the National Review are in no position to criticize MSNBC.

So what you are telling me is that proper handling of a gun and keeping firearm ownership out of a 5 year old is too much to ask? Well on the other hand, conservatives are getting a good lesson in evolution after denying it for so long.

You know the NRA is powerful when companies are allowed to market real guns to kids.

Guns Don't Kill; they just make it easier.

    from Balloon Juice

“Libertarian activist and radio host Adam Kokesh is hoping
to get 1,000 people to march on Washington on July 4 — armed with loaded rifles. The plan, launched with a Facebook group today, is to gather on the Virginia side of the Potomac, where gun laws are lax, and then march across the bridge with loaded rifles slung over their shoulders into the District, where openly carrying weapons is generally prohibited.

“This will be a non-violent event,” the Facebook group warns, “unless the government chooses to make it violent.” […]

You can’t make this stuff up – no matter how hard you try.

During the zombie apocalypse, the rules will change. Normally you can’t shoot your ex-girlfriend or President Obama because it would be immoral. But zombie ex-girlfriends and zombie presidents will be fair game.

Lansing — As the bullet rose in the air, Michelle Packard and her fiancé were embarking on a life together.

As soon as she received a doctorate degree from Michigan State University, they were going to move to Maryland for her job as a research biologist with the Department of Defense.

Then the bullet, fired in apparent celebration by a stranger believed to be more than a mile away, began to fall. Its descent would destroy those bright plans and eventually contribute to the deaths of the couple.

The projectile struck Packard, 34, in the head while she awaited a Fourth of July fireworks show in downtown Lansing last year. The Mensa member and high school valedictorian died a day later.

Her fiancé, Wes Thomas, 29, a struggling community college student who had found stability in his three-year relationship with Packard, was lost without her, friends said. After an apparent suicide attempt in November, he fatally shot himself in May.

With another Fourth of July approaching, family and friends of the couple want people to know the folly and danger of firing guns into the air to celebrate holidays such as July 4 and New Year’s.

Officials in Tennessee say that a father and his 12-year-old son died over the weekend after an AR-15 assault-style rifle accidentally discharged, causing a fire and then a series of explosions in a room full of ammunition.

WBBJ-TV reported on Monday that Tennessee State Bomb and Arson Investigators, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Henderson County Sheriff’s Department were all looking into the Sunday deaths 48-year-old Terry York and his son, Luke.

According to family members, York’s AR-15 rifle accidentally discharged while he was in a back room of their home showing it off to some friends. The discharge ignited a small fire, which “did not seem too threatening at first,” they told WBBJ-TV. The blaze apparently grew out of control after Luke entered the room to help his father put out fire.

Stepfather kills Colo. teen mistaken for burglar

A Colorado teenager apparently sneaking back into her home before dawn Monday was shot and killed when her stepfather mistook her for a burglar.

Colorado Springs police said the unidentified 14-year-old girl was shot just before 6 a.m. as she entered her home in the 4000 block of Ascendant Drive, on the city’s northeast side. Officers rushed her to a local hospital, where she died.

Very troubling for the pawn shop owner. In this case the kid went to extra effort, got his ID to go and blow his head off in a gun shop.

Guess he didn’t read that jumping from a great height is % wise the most effective form of suicide.

Guess he wanted to make a statement.

He could have just as well have taken a skydiving class and brought a knife, cut his chute lines upon chute deployment. The gun isn’t the problem, a mind utterly compelled to kill itself is.

Pretty much nothing for but intervention by people who care about him…don’t think that is in the pawn shop guide book.

Statistically a shotgun blast to head is 86% effective in accomplishing suicide..The jumping from a great height, well is in 98% range..Make sure you go for over ten stories, or you might live.
