‘Game of Thrones’ is Back

Game of Thrones

Season 4 of the best show on TV, “Game of Thrones,” began last night. Normally-evil Comcast actually let their customers watch the premiere episode, “Two Swords,” without having to subscribe to HBO. HBO’s online service, HBO GO, crashed.

The story picked up with the melting down of Ned Stark’s heirloom Valyrian sword “Ice,” and ended with Arya Stark recovering “Needle,” the sword that was stolen from her. In between, we caught up with Dany’s dragons and her army marching towards Meereen. Jaime Lannister is back at King’s Landing, but he’s a changed man and it’s not the same as when he left. His brother Tyrion is trying to cope with the arrival from Dorne of Prince Oberyn (aka the Red Viper), seeking revenge. Jon Snow has returned to Castle Black, carrying a warning of imminent attack by the wildling army of Mance Rayder.

If you haven’t seen “Game of Thrones,” you’re missing one of the best TV series ever.

UPDATE:
Recap: ‘Game of Thrones,’ Season Four, Episode One: “Two Swords”

I’m most likely not going to see this series because I don’t have cable or HBO, but I found out that you can buy some great television shows for not too much money.

I’ve been buying episodes of the new “Cosmos” and they really look great on my computer. I also decided to find out what all the talk about “The Walking Dead” was about because I could get the entire first season for $11.00. The first episode was very satisfying. Do these guys know how to recreate decomposing people or not?

Thanks for the offer Richard, but I have ton of DVD’s that I bought from Blockbusters just before they closed the doors. I got all four seasons of “Big Love”, a bunch of other seasons of shows and dozens of other DVD’s and Blue-Rays. I’m booked solid for months.

I was thoroughly impressed at how helpful and friendly the girls who were selling movies in the last days were. I almost felt embarrassed to be scavenging around the store while they were about to lose their jobs.

Find a less insulting name and then we can talk.

Well, will this do nathan? Or are your sensibilities offended because you are a limp wristed jerk?

I’ve long since realized that I’m not a conservative, I’m a liberal who just happens to agree with conservatives about very nearly everything! That’s just how far up my ass my head really is.

The thought policeman discerns his emission! ACTION

This guy was IP banned for being a douchebag troll.

He’s been here from the beginning of the blog – maybe even earlier. Certainly not all of his incarnations are equally thought stimulating, but sometimes trollery is in the eye of the beholder.

That said, while our visitor roll ain’t exactly staggeringly large, back in the day, his presence was also attendant to the hoards of commenters that actually lived up to the promise on the masthead.

Nowadays ya get entirely too much of this: (from key-holders even)

“Okay nevermind I’m done with pot jokes.”

        And

“Find a less insulting name and then we can talk.”

Welcome to the raucous, political debate. (Yawn)

Then there’s the censorship! Fie upon those fascists.

OneUtah can be proud that we have some of the best trolls in the business. Hell, we had Bob S., jd berger, brewski, and Lon Chaney Sr. – otherwise known as glenn of a thousand faces.

I don’t enjoy pen pals who keep changing their names, but I only deleted one or two of glenn’s comments, when he used my own name, or somebody else’s. For a short while we got him to stick to one name, but the guy just can’t be controlled, I guess.

Usually, I ignore him, but sometimes he’s more coherent then I am.

Troll = anyone who doesn’t reflexively agree with everything you say.

          • #13 by Larry Bergan on April 12, 2014 - 5:15 pm

Troll = anybody who has enough time to destroy a decent conversation in favor of lies for money.

            Am I close?

            Nope.
            Only the truth.
            No money.

Something tells me John Lennon isn’t going to like being a laboratory experiment. :)

    • #16 by Nathan Erkkila on April 11, 2014 - 4:57 pm

Actually I thought he was very keen on “experimentation” while he was in his “laboratory” testing out. Okay nevermind I’m done with pot jokes.
