#Alternativefacts is Now A Hashtag on Twitter

Paging George Orwell…

“Meet The Press” this morning:

Chuck Todd: You did not answer the question of why the President asked the White House Press Secretary to come out in front of the podium for the first time and utter a falsehood. Why did he do that? It undermines the credibility of the entire White House Press Office on day one.

Kellyanne Conway: No, it doesn’t. Don’t be so overly dramatic about it, Chuck. You’re saying it’s a falsehood, and Sean Spicer, our press secretary, gave alternative facts to that, but the point…

Chuck Todd: Wait a minute. Alternative facts? Alternative facts. Four of the five things he uttered. The one thing he got right was Zeke Miller. Four of the five facts he uttered were just not true. Look. Alternative facts are not facts. They’re falsehoods.

In no time at all, #alternativefacts was on Twitter. This is happening.

Is this the best you have after the titanic ass whipping?

I expected more..something more lurid and demeaning..you know to keep up with past behaviors.

    • #2 by Richard Warnick on January 22, 2017 - 1:03 pm

Trump has already pegged the incompetence meter worse than George W. Bush. Is that the best the Tea-GOP can do?

The best WE have are an array of policy proposals supported by 2/3 majorities of Americans, that Bernie Sanders stood up for. Can we get through to corporatist Washington politicians and make them pay attention to the people? Who knows, but we are the overwhelming majority and we’re not going away!

Now I’m very glad that Trump mooned CNN at the press conference. I hope the NYT’s sees that it’s now OK to use the word LIE.

    Yes LIE!

It would be good for Glenn to study the concept.

  5. #7 by Larry Bergan on January 22, 2017 - 3:18 pm

I guess they figure that by telling us they’re lying, literally, right out of the gate, we can’t complain after this.

Seriously! Is this what this is about?

‘Hey, we TOLD you we were lying, what do you want?’

  6. #8 by Larry Bergan on January 22, 2017 - 4:19 pm

Been letting Glenn comment with an alternate reality name.

    Won’t happen again!

  7. #9 by Richard Warnick on January 22, 2017 - 10:32 pm

The Orwellian slogan, “Ignorance is Strength” works for Trump.

    Robert Kuttner:

Trump’s strategy is to flood the zone — to proliferate so many lies that by the time one lie is rebutted he has put out several more, and he seems to believe even the lies that contradict previous lies. Ignorance really is Trump’s strength.

  8. #10 by Larry Bergan on January 24, 2017 - 10:32 am

It’s as if Trump and his team are advancing the old Nazi propaganda tactic of the big lie a step further and promoting the fact they’re telling big lies.

Basically though, it’s just mooning the American public for fun. Very presidential.

  9. #11 by glenn hoefer on January 24, 2017 - 10:55 am

Amazing things are happening, and we should let them..

    • #12 by Richard Warnick on January 24, 2017 - 9:00 pm

I think that Trump’s good ideas (there are some) will never come to pass because the Tea-GOP won’t allow it. OTOH bad stuff that Trump wants to do will get a green light.

Last Friday Trump shut down the EPA and tried to keep it a secret. We only know this because an anonymous whistleblower told a member of Congress.

  10. #13 by glenn hoefer on January 25, 2017 - 5:29 pm

None of any of it compares to what is possible if Trump manages to thwart the neo con PNAC plan, finally get these psychopaths.

It certainly is NOT the Tea-GOP that is in control..as we have seen in the very fact that Trump is President..he is appealing to the American People..and no matter vagina marches or any of it…this is where the support will come..I expect a number of folks to have challenges in their districts left and right as they are all failures in the past couple years that is clear enough.

All bets are off because Trump no matter what anyone denies..is EFFECTIVE.

    • #14 by Richard Warnick on January 26, 2017 - 7:06 am

  12. #17 by glenn hoefer on January 26, 2017 - 10:21 am

Face it..the addled left has no idea what to do..Trump isn’t in on the 2 party sham that has ruled America for decades..the greatest fear all of you have is that everything Trump is doing might work, and that would be the ideological end of so, so many useless ideas fostered and paid for by our governance. Constitution as our guide,

    Everything is on the table..

    Ya’ll better sharpen your pencils..

  13. #19 by John B Talcott on January 27, 2017 - 11:30 am

If Trump’s ideas work, it will be the end of environmental protection, compassion for the children of immigrants, global cooperation instead of isolationism, health care for women provided by Planned Parenthood, and safeguards to the first amendment—not to mention health insurance for millions who wouldn’t otherwise have it. Useless ideas? I think not. Building a wall that we don’t need that will cost the American taxpayers billions of dollars is the real “useless idea” on the table.

Since Trump seems poised to cooperate with Russia, he should sit down with Mikhail Gorbachev, whom I’ve always thought was a brilliant man, and a brave leader.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the two would see eye to eye on anything.

Mikhail Gorbachev: ‘It All Looks as if the World Is Preparing for War’

  15. #22 by glenn hoefer on January 28, 2017 - 12:39 pm

I’m figuring the boo hoo party has only just begun..as the man who set the stage for the pillaging of Russia bu her own and Jewish oligarchs, all while America looked gorbachav has nothing to say..his incompetent actions led to yeltsin and the complete prostration of Russia, which is why you now have Putin. Which in turn the only reason Russia is not at war with nato..or already turned upon by the PNAC neo con “alliance”..

We shall still be covering all via medicaid and something else will be offered..something competitive, as obamacare as a program and value is a total dud…it’s not even going to have to be removed, it will just collapse.

As for what isn’t going to be paid for by the feds, move with your States to pay the taxes required for all your desperately required programs..look within..tax harder at the State level.

Trump thinks his idiotic Muslim ban is “working out very nicely.” I guess nobody was brave enough to to tell him thousands of Americans have been protesting all day at airports around the country (Salt Lake City included). Speaking of “drone murderer”, let’s compare the number of civilians killed by the actions taken by George W. with those killed by drone air strikes during President Barack Obama’s terms in office.

    • #29 by Larry Bergan on January 29, 2017 - 3:36 am

      Oh, come on John…

      Shock n’ Awe weren’t nothin’

The folksy war president didn’t mean anything by it.

  21. #30 by glenn hoefer on January 29, 2017 - 10:11 am

So John, you well demonstrate your ignorance…the drone assassination program run by obama, and requiring his signature for all the drone murders as commander in chief ran at a rate at least 6 times that of w. As shameful and cowardly as the practice is..obama used it in expediency and is basically just another monster in office..For 8 years the US was operating a basically NAZI assassination program utilizing drones..which have been defined as terror weapons since WW2..

Here you are you Sad Sacks…get used to where you are..nobody is going to believe a word you say, but for the idiots already believing it..and with any luck, they will clue in as some time passes..

As for the immigration rulings..it is excellent, about time. The only way to vet entrys is to stop them until the system can keep up or manage..otherwise any claim to security is a joke,

  24. #33 by John B Talcott on January 30, 2017 - 5:06 pm

The US invasion of Iraq based upon the lie told by the Bush administration caused well over 165,000 civilian casualties. The number of civilian lives lost to drone strikes although unfortunate is minor by comparison. The surgical removal of the leaders of Isis and Al-qaeda without risking the lives of American servicemen is a legitimate military strategy that has been highly effective in destabilizing these groups that would do us harm.

  25. #34 by glenn hoefer on January 30, 2017 - 5:12 pm

    ^^^Hey NIT WIT!!

The tally for the war in Syria is 400,000 dead..9-10 million displaced..the tally for Smokin’ Dead Libya is 100,000 by now..The refugee crisis is all obama’s baby, as are the creation of ISIS and these wars..Russia cleaned up the mess..obama tried to stop Putin.

    Spare us.

Do the math. You are wrong.

..and droning was defined as a war crime long ago..they are banned battlefield weapons..guess you never knew that..you are excused.

  26. #35 by John B Talcott on January 30, 2017 - 9:36 pm

The drone strikes are continuing under your boy Trump at the present time. Will they still be “war crimes” when he orders them?

  27. #36 by glenn hoefer on January 31, 2017 - 10:58 am

All of these strikes are pre approved..and I am sure that if we continue they will be as effected now by sad precedence that obama has so expanded..What I am more expecting is a total annihilation in a conventional manner of what is left of ISIS under Trump’s direction if Putin does not beat us to it.

The CIA being totally bummed out that their terrorist proxy army intending to unseat Assad..is to be set to ashes along with all the connected intelligence agency apparatus..

  28. #37 by John B Talcott on January 31, 2017 - 12:52 pm

So Obama is responsible for all the dead and displaced in Syria, the dead in Libya, the refugee crisis, and the creation of Isis? I never knew he had that kind of power. Do you ever think before you write these kinds of statements? Maybe they are just “alternate facts” like your boy Trump likes to broadcast.

Seriously, if you would venture outside of the “bubble” created by Limbaugh, Fox News, and the Drudge Report et.al, you might begin to see the world as it really is instead of what the far right propaganda spin machine wants you to believe. I am not so naive as to believe everything I see and hear on MSNBC, but I am intelligent enough to believe the truth “lies somewhere inbetween”, unlike the dichotomous thinkers on the far right.

  29. #38 by glenn hoefer on February 1, 2017 - 8:04 am

Yes, yes he is John B. Talcott..and history will bear it out.

obama and his neo con PNAC scum handlers compelled this very very weak man to engage in a plan that by now defies description. The aiding and funding of known terrorists in to destroy by proxy the leaders of nations who were not doing what the obama administration ( read neo con) wanted and resisting the regime change. Not going quietly. These nations were Syria and Iraq and their respective leaders Kadaffi and Assad..Kadaffi was torture murdered in his own streets while the chaos of the burning nation bombed by the “coalition” led by BO, set the victims fleeing into rickity boats to drown or wash up upon the beaches of Europe.

The ensuing refugee crisis and then the 2nd in Syria, being DIRECTLY related to this failed policy, the whole of it a ghastly crime empowering jihadist psychos who yet torment the region..As Libya burned the crew of psychos under US direction was aimed towards Syria and needed little coaxing, and that bloodbath ensued to the point now others had to come and out the fire…

The entirety of this prospect yielded the numbers I posted and also brought us to the brink of real conflict with Russia, who has only been on full scale nuclear alert now for over three years. They can Thump anyone in ways not seen in your lifetime in any war but for the USA.

These developments all occurred on obama’s watch and under the direction of the HildeBeest State Dept. All of this is out now, and their ghastly crimes shall we all hope as with bush be sanctioned somehow, or at least acknowledged, and this shameful 16 years in US history put behind us, but never forgotten.

Whatever is said Trump has yet to effect his foreign policy and see the outcomes, but as in many things until a logical path towards the future can be discerned…less is more. We watch and wait.

  30. #40 by John B Talcott on February 1, 2017 - 7:02 pm

Glen Hoefer what is your source of information?

  31. #41 by glenn hoefer on February 3, 2017 - 11:42 am

Well, this thread is from the HildeBeest herself…after that do some homework, I mean after the drubbing, the completely corrupted democrat party sham primary “battle”, I would think your side is in need of some real reflection.

As for the sponsorship of head chopping terrorists that is a given of any review of CIA COINTELPRO operations, they are always based in terror fostered by horrific crimes and behaviors..As my professor international relations professor Douglas Kinnard stated..and he was the Brigadier General of the Laotian incursion in then Vietnam War..secret, illegal, bloody..a war crime, and yet there he was 1000 dollar suit teaching us how it is..

“No permanent friends, no permanent enemies, only permanent self interest”. Machiavelli rules of course..head choppin’ ‘aint no thing for the CIA and HildeBeest..dead is dead and what difference does it make if it gets the job done?

John B. Talcott; Do you deny the links that clinton has ties to the entire sorry affair in Benghazi?..the supplying of the psychos there DIRECTLY from her State Dept. to the jihadi groups, completely in concert with obama? the two went on to sponsor terror and now winds up as utilizing drones in an assassination program at TEN TIMES that of w..

Are you that naive after being lied to by NPR and all your sources?

NPR, the news agency of the whacked out left academics and imagined smart people hauled the water to bury bernie sanders, covered for wasserman schultz until it was too late..and on and on..along with “Hillary is the shoe in for President” meme that fell flat on its face.

Here, this should be from a source from deep within the tank you dwell..even they don’t deny the facts I pointed out in my post.

It is not happiness to watch Trump have to do what he is now doing..it is akin to finally watching the tow truck drag the wreck out of the ditch, after all the victims have been mopped up and taken to the hospital.

What we are seeing is triage after 16 years of neo con PNAC whoredom being the dominant force in politics laying the nation so low..

The latest from the White House Office of Alt-Facts:

Trump falsely claims US murder rate is ‘highest’ in 47 years

“I’d say that in a speech and everybody was surprised because the press doesn’t like to tell it like it is,” Trump said during a meeting with US sheriffs at the White House. “It wasn’t to their advantage to say that. The murder rate is the highest it’s been in I guess 45-47 years.”

Meanwhile in the real world, FBI crime data shows murders at a 45-year low.

  45. #59 by glenn hoefer on February 8, 2017 - 12:03 pm

Yet some inner cities have insane numbers, Chicago breaking records. with 750 plus, and 5000 shot..Overall the crime rate is lower..It is the pre sell for “Gulianiization” of the gangland violent inner cities is my guess.

Trump famously does not read anything, so he evidently didn’t read the protest signs.

  50. #64 by Larry Bergan on February 12, 2017 - 7:43 pm

Hey Trump! Come to Cottonwood Heights. People love you here. Just ask your lap dog, Jason Chaffetz.

Bring Bernie Sanders with you. I’ll bet he’d still love to debate you.

Chaffetz says paid protesters are hounding him. Reporters can’t find a single one.

Utah state Rep. Marie Poulson (D-Cottonwood Heights) represents the area around the high school where the town hall was held. She told the Deseret News she believes almost all the protesters were local.

“I’ve heard some of my colleagues (at the Utah Legislature) say here today that they had shipped in liberals to give him a bad time,” she said. “I serve that area and I listen to their frustrations.”

Paid Trump protesters are so elusive, they practically don’t exist. 😀
