It actually made sense from al-Qaeda’s point of view. Remember this is a group that never numbered more than a few thousand. However, there are more than 2 billion Muslims. If they could instigate a “clash of civilizations” conflict between the USA and the Muslim world (Umma), it might unite them and lead to our decline as a world power.

The Nixon years are before your time, but I was reminded of a story today where Nixon had made a long list of people he wanted to get. There was a reporter named John Anderson who was a Mormon with nine children. Some of the tactics they were going to try on him were saying he was gay, putting LSD on his steering wheel, poisoning a drink, and stabbing him to death.

Gordon Liddy volunteered to stab him before he had to go to jail for breaking into the Watergate. Don’t talk to me about animals.

By the way, Mr. Liddy has had a radio show for over a decade.

Most of the people who act like real animals are people like Bush’s dad, Cheney Rumsfeld or Abrams types who have others do the animal acts.

I've been catching up on my Bill Moyers and this program fits right in with the topic of how Republicans are to blame for, not just the recent events, but EVERYTHING. It features two guys who are insiders and know what they're talking about. Norman Ornstein and Thomas Mannwrote wrote an article for The Washington Post a while back entitled “Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem.” Watch or read the transcript. Towards the end they explain why Obama is unable to do anything, and it makes perfect sense.
